Screen printing

I attempted some screen print using the photos of Catherine I took, to try out a new medium. I have never done screen printing before and I was pretty pleased with the outcome.
I also added a ripped up letter and collaged it to the one on the right. The letter represents the content of the photo so I thought it added nicely to the print. The one on the left has biro drawn into it to give it more depth and define some of the features lost in the print.

Coursework photos

Here is my lovely friend Catherine posing for some photos that I based a large part of my coursework around. They were meant to convey a wider message, something that has happened out side of the picture, that the viewer doesn't know about, to create an air of mystery and intrigue to the picture.

Sketches

Just some sketches from my sketchbook, the one on the left is done in pencil and the one on the right with oil pastel.
I was experimenting with drawing people using different mediums. I thought the pencil drawing worked better depsite the use of colour that adds more variation to the pastel drawing.

Ballet Dancer

This is another painting I did in the style of an artist, this time I looked at Degas. I produced the picture towards the start of the A2 level course, using oil on a board. It is fairly indicative of my work throughout the rest of the year, with a detailed figure in the foreground and a fairly neutral background to highlight the figure. I really enjoyed working in this style and on this scale as it allowed me to create a detailed painting.
My favourite aspect of the painting is probably the pink skirt, because the rest of the figure and the background are done in neutral tones, the skirt really stands out, and draws the viewers eye towards it.
